Arkansas Best’s 3Q Income Slips

Arkansas Best Corp.’s third-quarter net income fell to $15.4 million, or 61 cents a share, from $18.9 million, or 75 cents, a year ago.

Revenue rose to $495.8 million, from $486 million a year ago, ABF said in a statement.

Arkansas Best’s largest subsidiary, ABF Freight System, had revenue of $476.3 million, “essentially the same, on a per-day basis” as the previous third quarter, ABF said.

Third-quarter operating income at ABF was $25.2 million, down from $28.5 million. Third-quarter total weight per day fell 5.1% from a year ago.
