ASCE to Unveil Infrastructure Report July 23

A report to be released by the American Society of Civil Engineers on July 23 will detail ways communities are modernizing infrastructure.

"Infrastructure Game Changers" will highlight trends in energy, freight, transportation and water infrastructure that are changing the way engineers design, plan and build projects.

The data for the report were gathered via a broad call to ASCE members and stakeholders to help identify new trends in U.S. infrastructure, said Becky Moylan, ASCE manager of state public relations.

“Our challenges are pretty widespread and very evident in the report card for the American infrastructure,” Moylan said. “Without adequate funding, there is no way we can modernize our infrastructure and really address all of these needs.”

The seeks to address some of those needs by revealing information about how engineers are building things more cost-effectively with project delivery programs, new materials, changes in pavement mixtures, how the West is dealing with water supply issues due to drought and several other topics tied to infrastructure that impacts transportation.

The report will be updated a few times a year as readers have the option to submit information about additional Game Changer trends and projects when they view the website. The Infrastructure Game Changers report will be accessible at ASCEgamechangers.org.
