ATA Merges IT, Logistics Councils

American Trucking Associations last week announced the merging of its Logistics and Information Technology councils.

The new Information Technology & Logistics Council will be headed by Carl Kirk, ATA’s vice president of maintenance, information technology and logistics.

Richard Curtis was named executive director of the merged councils. He currently is director of technical services for the Information Technology Council.

Matthew Borst, current membership coordinator for the Logistics Council, will be the assistant technical director of logistics.

ITLC’s mission will be to develop programs, resources and industry best practices that will increase profits and lead to improved service levels provided by motor carriers and logistics companies.

"Today’s marketplace demands better service at less cost, a demand that can only be met with the use of up-to-date information technology as the centerpiece of efficient logistics systems. The merger of the two councils will optimize benefits for the motor carriers and logistics providers who want to compete effectively in today’s market," Mr. Kirk said.

"In today’s competitive environment, the movement of information has become as important as the movement of freight and we believe this merger will better align ATA’s resources to serve our members information technology and logistics needs," ATA President Walter B. McCormick, Jr, said.
