ATA’s 68-Mph Speed-Limiter Proposal Draws Mixed Reaction

ndustry reaction to American Trucking Associations’ recent call for setting engine governors at 68 miles per hour on all new large trucks was mixed last week, with some safety and truck officials applauding the move but others calling the idea impractical.

ATA said speed governors set at 68 mph would reduce the number and severity of speed-related crashes. (Click here for previous coverage.)

Last week, ATA said it was exploring options for implementing its policy, and it planned to meet with manufacturers to discuss options for implementation.
