Atlas Acquires Canadian Customs Specialist Orbit Brokers

Atlas Canada acquired Mississauga, Ontario-based customs brokerage Orbit Brokers for an undisclosed sum, the Atlas World Group unit said.
Atlas World Group ranks No. 50 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America and No. 3 among household goods/commercial delivery carriers.
Evansville, Ind.-headquartered Atlas’ other units include Atlas Van Lines, Atlas Van Lines Canada, Atlas Van Lines International and Cornerstone Relocation Group.
The deal, effective Jan. 1, is intended to enhance Atlas Canada’s customs clearance solutions for clients across Canada and the United States.
Orbit specializes in handling both commercial and personal customs clearance needs.

As part of the deal, Orbit will become a unit of Connect Logistics, a division of Atlas Canada.
