Auctioneers Sell Trucks Online

Eight trucks were sold in two Internet auctions earlier this month, a development that left the auctioneers confident about future profitability of their Internet commerce venture.

Transportation equipment auctioneer Hookup.com, and Taylor and Martin, which sells used trucking equipment, held online auctions July 11 through July 13 and July 18 through 21. Hookup.com is based in Joplin, Mo., and Taylor and Martin is based in Fremont Neb.

The first auction drew 450,000 hits during the three days. Over that time, 62 trucks and trailers attracted bids, Hookup.com said. Only four were sold, because the bids did not meet the seller’s minimum acceptable price.

The second auction also generated four truck sales on 250,000 hits.
