Bay and Bay Transportation is expanding its flatbed operations, the carrier said.
Eagan, Minn.-based Bay and Bay ranks No. 82 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America.
The company’s brokerage arm has developed a dedicated Minneapolis-based team of around 30 employees with substantial experience in flatbed transportation to propel its push in the segment.
Bay and Bay said it chose to expand the flatbed team to meet the growing needs of existing shippers, particularly in industries requiring transportation of construction materials, machinery and equipment.

“Our expanded flatbed services demonstrate our ongoing commitment to providing exceptional solutions for our customers,” Ross Spanier, president of multi-mode logistics at Bay and Bay, said in a statement.
“With a team of industry experts focused on delivering safe, efficient and specialized flatbed transportation, we’re well-positioned to meet even the most demanding shipping requirements,” he added.
Much of the business expansion will come on the U.S. Gulf Coast and elsewhere in Texas, Spanier told Transport Topics in an interview Jan. 17.
“Texas offers a significant demand penetration opportunity,” he said, particularly in terms of infrastructure transportation and the continued build out of data centers.
“Bay and Bay can offer turnkey solutions,” he said. “Bay and Bay’s customer base can benefit from the flatbed expansion.”
“We already serve many customers in the construction materials, machinery and equipment sectors who will immediately benefit from these enhanced capabilities,” added Sam Anderson, CEO of Bay and Bay.

“At the same time, we’re excited about new opportunities in growing markets such as renewable energy projects, including wind farms and solar installations. Additionally, we see aerospace, automotive and data centers as key areas for growth as we continue to expand our specialized services,” he added.
The carrier expects to do $35 million in business in 2025 and reach $100 million in revenue over the next three years.
Flatbed volumes are expected to grow significantly in 2025, FTR Transportation Intelligence Vice President of Trucking Avery Vise said earlier in January.
