Bestpass Introduces New Transponder to Expand Tolling Network

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bestpass Inc. introduced a new transponder to expand its toll-management network and streamline toll payment for fleets and drivers.

The new Horizon transponder will include tolling authorities in Florida and Kansas, with future coverage also planned for Oklahoma, Texas and the Ambassador Bridge that connects Detroit, Michigan, and Ontario, Bestpass said here at the Mid-America Trucking Show.

When paired with Bestpass’ existing E-ZPass-compatible transponder, the new Horizon transponder will eliminate the need for several separate transponders for the major toll facilities that aren’t currently part of E-ZPass, the provider said.

“With this new transponder we can now offer our customers a solution that minimizes transponder requirements, maximizes flexibility and savings, and radically improves our single account, single service center toll-management service,” CEO John Andrews said.

The new transponder is undergoing testing in Kansas and Florida, with broader availability likely by mid-April, Andrews said.

The company aims to bring its services to Oklahoma and Texas by the end of 2015 and also plans to add coverage for Canada in 2016.

Bestpass said its customers currently have more than 145,000 transponders in service to process more than $25 million in toll expenses per month.
