Boston and its surrounding areas were in lockdown Friday as police searched for a suspect from Monday’s bombing at the Boston Marathon, news reports said.
Watertown, Mass., where the search is centered, is not allowing any vehicle traffic, while people have been told to stay indoors and businesses are closed in Boston and other surrounding jurisdictions, the Boston Globe reported.
“It’s really a pretty direct sort of situation, because we’re on lockdown, the city of Boston along with five surround communities since this morning,” Anne Lynch, executive director of the Massachusetts Motor Transportation Association, told Transport Topics.
“Right now, we’re staying close to the state police and keeping lines of communication open there. But until there’s some break, that situation is not going to change,” she said.
“So if truckers need some kind of guidance, they can go on the Commonwealth of Massachusetts website, it’ll give you the exact locations of the lockdown,” Lynch added. “But it’s a pretty large area [that includes] both the city of Boston and outlying communities.”
