Brad Bentley, president of the Truckload Carriers Association, resigned Aug. 27, citing family obligations in his native Alabama.
TCA is in the process of assembling a task force to find a replacement.
“It has been my distinct honor to serve as president of the Truckload Carriers Association for the past 10 months, but the time has come for a new direction,” Bentley said in a statement.
Bentley plans to take time off before pursuing other opportunities in the trucking industry, according to the association.
Before heading TCA, he was editorial director of the recruiting unit of Randall-Reilly Publishing Co. of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, from 2008 to 2014. He entered the trucking-related publishing business in 1988, working for two companies that compiled driver-recruitment material.
He was the last man standing after a nine-member task force waded through more than 125 applications for the TCA job.
Bentley succeeded Chris Burruss, who departed suddenly in late June 2014 after leading the association since 2003.
