President Bush Wednesday called for a halt in the growth of greenhouse gases by 2025, the Associated Press reported.

The president set the specific target date for U.S. reductions in greenhouse emissions and said he was ready to commit to a binding international agreement on long-term reductions, as long as other countries, such as China and India, did the same.

The president said he favored a “comprehensive blend of market incentives and regulations” and cited measures already enacted, including a 40% increase in automobile fuel economy and a requirement for big increases in the use of ethanol and other biofuels, AP reported.
