Bush Seeks $20 Million for Trucking Security Plan

img src="/sites/default/files/images/articles/printeditiontag_new.gif" width=120 align=right>WASHINGTON — President Bush has requested $20 million from Congress to pay for the American Trucking Associations-led trucking industry anti-terrorism program in fiscal 2003.

The proposal was part of an amended budget request for the Transportation Security Administration that would add $546 million to the $4.8 billion the president originally requested in February for the next fiscal year.

The White House Office of Management and Budget said the additional money was necessary because Congress cut the administration’s supplemental request for the current fiscal 2002 TSA spending by $1 billion.
