Business Inventories Unchanged in January

Business inventories were unchanged in January, the Commerce Department said Friday.

Economists had forecast a 0.1% gain in inventories, Bloomberg reported. Sales rose 0.6%.

Retailers’ inventories fell 0.1%, while factory stockpiles, which account for about 40% of the total, rose 0.2%. Auto dealers’ inventories rose 0.5%.

When sales are growing, it usually means trucking is seeing additional demand to deliver goods and restock shelves.
