Sean Whiteley, Chief Operating Officer, Cargomatic
Cargomatic, which makes an app for trucking that matches cargo loads to available trucks — in a similar way to the Uber app that matches riders with drivers — has hired Sean Whiteley to be its new chief operating officer.
Co-founder and former COO Brett Parker will become president and chief commercial officer, the company said.
The company said in January it received $8 million in funding that it planned to use to improve technology platform and to expand its employees.
“Cargomatic truly has the potential to disrupt the multibillion-dollar trucking industry in a manner that benefits shippers, drivers and the environment alike. I’m thrilled to be along for the ride,” Whiteley said in a statement.
He previously was involved with several startups, including at TigerText, Slingshot Labs, RealtyTracker and Xdrive Technologies.
Whiteley's “extensive, hands-on background in technology startups will prove invaluable to Cargomatic as we continue our mission to modernize [business-to-business] logistics,” CEO and co-founder Jonathan Kessler said.
