Carrier Global Corp. on Oct. 4 began offering a software-as-a-service solution known as Lynx Logix that helps predict and address supply chain disruptions, it said.
Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.-based Carrier Global said Lynx Logix automatically identifies trends, patterns and issues in distribution networks or transportation lanes, offering a leg up especially for personalized medicine and pharmaceutical medicine carriers.
The parent company of refrigerated transportation original equipment manufacturer Carrier Transicold said supply chain disruptions can no longer be considered rare events.
As a result, Carrier Global said, pharmaceutical companies are having to reconsider their approach when it comes to risk management in their operations.
A separate advantage provided by the software is when shippers are seeking paths to reduce their Scope 3 emissions through a more efficient cold chain, including improved insight on their supply chain carbon footprint, it said.
Scope 3 emissions are the result of activities from assets not owned or controlled by the reporting entity, but that the organization indirectly affects in its value chain, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. The GHG Protocol defines 15 categories of Scope 3 emissions.

“Lynx Logix is transforming supply chain management, offering AI and machine learning to drive a shift from traditional, reactive lane risk assessment to proactive risk mitigation,” said Alice DiBiasio, Carrier Global general manager, truck trailer Americas and digital solutions.
“By offering in-transit insights, Lynx Logix gives users more control over their temperature-controlled logistics to support quick decision-making,” DeBiasio said.
Carrier Global said the system enhances situational awareness by spotting supply chain risks, measures lane risk profile, automatically maps distribution networks and assesses risks, and leverages artificial intelligence to generate predictive insights.
Lynx Logix is available via a digital subscription and accessed via an online portal sold through Sensitech, a Carrier Global company.
