CFI Raises Driver Pay

Contract Freighters Inc., Joplin, Mo., said it will raise pay for all drivers by 1 cent per mile.

CFI also said that it would now pay its drivers each week, instead of biweekly, and that it would bump up the money that drivers receive for each stop they make. In addition, drivers who are detained by a shipper for more than three hours will now receive $12 of guaranteed detention pay per hour, the company said.

The company also announced that it would upgrade its fleet to include Freightliner Cascadia and Kenworth T660 model tractors. CFI had previously operated only Kenworths.

CFI is part of Con-way Inc., the parent company of less-than-truckload carrier Con-way Freight.
