CF’s Curry Steps Down

W. Roger Curry stepped down as chief executive officer of Consolidated Freightways Corp. last week, prompting the board to appoint an interim CEO and to launch a search for a replacement.

Curry’s decision to retire after 31 years of service at CF coincided with the release of 1999 financial results in which the Menlo Park, Calif.-based long-haul less-than-truckload carrier reported larger than expected losses in the fourth quarter and profits for the year that were well below estimates of investment analysts.

The board elected Vice Chairman G. Robert Evans to serve as CEO while an executive search firm interviews candidates to fill the position permanently.
