Transportation and third-party logistics firm C.H. Robinson Worldwide reported a second-quarter profit of $92 million, or 54 cents a share, up slightly from $90 million, or 52 cents a share, a year ago.
Revenue fell 17% to $1.93 billion due primarily to lower volumes and fuel prices, the company said late Tuesday. Transportation gross profit rose 2.9% to $306.2 million.
Truck gross profits, including truckload and less-than-truckload services, rose 5.6% to $266.2 million, while truckload volume fell 5%.
Intermodal gross profit fell 21% to $8.5 million, led by price declines combined with slight volume decreases, the company said.
C.H. Robinson is ranked No. 7 on the Transport Topics Logistics 50 listing of North American logistics firms.
