Chevron Says New Delo Oil Boosts Fuel Economy

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —  Chevron Corp. said here that its latest synthetic motor oil can improve fuel economy up to 1% for Class 8 trucks.

In fuel consumption tests, its new Delo 400 XLE Synblend SAE 10W-30 oil shows as much as 1% improved fuel economy for Class 8 trucks —  and up to 3.6% improvement for Class 6 trucks —  compared with its 15W-40 oil, company officials said here at the Mid-America Trucking Show.

Chevron said its new oil, a synthetic blend recommended for 4-stroke diesel engines, is formulated for 2010-compliant low-emission diesel engines.

“Any product that can help reduce fuel consumption is important for fleets to consider,” said Jim Gambill, a Delo brand manager with Chevron.

The new oil will be available in bulk in April and in jugs by June, the company said.
