Cummins Inc., the largest foreign investor in the Chinese diesel engine industry, received an order for 1,900 bus engines from transit agencies in China, Bloomberg reported.
Cummins did not disclose the value of the order in a statement late last month, Bloomberg said.
The orders consist of 1,000 diesel engines for Beijing Public Transport Holdings Ltd. and 900 diesel engines for Hangzhou Public Transport Corp. Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang Province in eastern China.
When the new order is completed, Cummins and its joint venture, Cummins Westport, will have provided engines for more than 14,000 Beijing Public Transport buses, more than half of the agency’s fleet, the company said.
Cummins produces more than a third of North America’s heavy-duty truck engines.
