Class 8 Truck Sales Jump 42.8% for Strongest Feb. Since 2000

.S. retail sales of heavy-duty trucks jumped 42.8% in February from a year earlier to 17,184, the highest total for that month since 2000.

Analysts and industry executives said the latest figures show a continuing surge in demand that should push Class 8 sales in 2005 well above last year’s level.

Sales over the first two months climbed 52% compared with 2004, according to the sales data Ward’s Communications collected from manufacturers.
