Commercial Vehicle Group said it plans to close its production and warehouse facility in Tigard, Ore., and expects the closure to be completed by December 2014.

The Tigard plant produces commercial vehicle interior trim components such as instrument panels and storage cabinets. The majority of the work will be distributed to other plants, CVG said in a statement.

There are about 80 employees at the facility, and CVG said they will be offered transition support and/or opportunities at other plants.

“Strategic decisions that impact personnel are always difficult and are not taken lightly, but this is a necessary step in response to changing customer needs and industry dynamics,” Patrick Miller, president of global truck and bus for CVG, said in a statement.

The company said it expects to save between $1.5 million to $2.5 million from closing the plant.

“We appreciate the service of our Tigard employees, and we will assist them and their families in dealing with the changes occasioned by the closure of the facility,” Miller said.
