C2Logix Inc. and CD SRVS said they are combining their products to offer a single offering for route optimization and fleet communication.
C2Logix, Fairfax, Va., offers a route-planning software product called C2RouteApp, while CD SRVS, Orange, Calif., is primarily a waste cart and container management company that sells an Android-phone-based fleet communication program called aGENDA.
The companies said they’ve integrated C2RouteApp and aGENDA into a product tentatively called Rouditor, which allows customers to plan routes and manage them in real time.
Customers can build an adaptable routing plan with C2RouteApp and then manage it through aGENDA, said Tony Esposito, C2Logix’s president. Esposito said Aug. 23 that Rouditor is ideal for fleet managers in the field service, waste and recycling, food, beverage and fuel delivery industries.
“They can plan their routes for heavy density, which is door to door, or for normal pickup and deliveries,” Esposito said. “A driver can click if the delivery is complete or incomplete, and the dispatcher will know immediately. And if something pops up in the middle of the day, a dispatcher will know exactly where his guys are and they can do dynamic routing.”
Both companies are marketing their products separately while programmers fine-tune Rouditor, which is geared to work on a tablet computer, Esposito said.
Esposito, whose background is in wireless communications, ex-plained the advantage of Rouditor is that it’s a “software as a service,” meaning there’s no software to download since the program sits on the providers’ servers.
He also noted that the costs for similar products from other vendors could range in the hundreds of dollars to more than $1,000 per vehicle. “We’re doing it for $300,” he said. “And it’s not hard-wired into a vehicle. If the vehicle is out of service, you just take your tablet to the next truck.”
Rouditor gives even the smallest company the ability to affordably manage its field operations in real time, CD SRVS said in a statement.
