Confrontation Ends in Trucker Death

A truck driver has confessed to shooting another driver after a confrontation at a truckstop along Interstate 40, near Amarillo, Texas.

Wayne Broom was arraigned on a murder charge for the death of Richard Ramirez. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.

According to police, Mr. Broom and Mr. Ramirez were arguing over the CB radio along I-40 on Dec. 11. When both drivers pulled into a truck stop, Mr. Broom allegedly got out of his truck and shot Mr. Ramirez through his driver’s side window.

Witnesses said Broom then walked into the truck stop, laid his weapon on the counter and told the clerk to call the police because he had just shot someone. Broom then played video games until the police arrived to arrest him.
