Continental Tire to Open First US Distribution Center

The German tire maker behind a $69 million project in Fort Worth offered more details about its plan for the site.
Continental Tire announced Sept. 19 that Dallas-Fort Worth would be home to the company’s first fully owned tire distribution center in the United States.
The news release made no mention of an address, but a company official confirmed that it would be located at 10101 Old Burleson Road in southern Fort Worth.
The News reported initial details about the facility earlier this month.
The roughly 753,000-square-foot facility will be able to store more than 800,000 tires. Construction is expected to begin in September 2024 and operations at the site are slated to begin in 2026. The facility can be expanded to cover 1.25 million square feet to meet future needs, the company said.
Continental Tire said its comprehensive network study identified Dallas-Fort Worth as a “key distribution hub.”

“This facility marks our first owned tire distribution center in the U.S., reflecting our commitment to enhancing service levels and better attending to our customers,” said Bill Caldwell, senior vice president for Continental’s passenger car and light truck tires division in the U.S. “Designed for future expansion, the new distribution center will include advanced automation technology and sustainability features, such as solar panels. We see the facility as a blueprint initiative for future building designs in respect of automation and renewable energy supply.”
According to initial filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Continental Tire expects to spend around $69 million in construction costs.
Continental officials did not provide updated project costs or employment estimates.
