New concerns arose about the health of Hunter Harrison ahead of a shareholders vote June 5 about whether to reimburse the CEO of CSX for $84 million in compensation he surrendered when he joined the Jacksonville, Fla., railway.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Harrison, 72, has a portable oxygen tank to help with shortness of breath. He declined to discuss his condition, but the company released a statement downplaying the issue.

Company spokesman Rob Doolittle said Harrison “has been and continues to be actively and deeply involved on a daily basis” but said that he wouldn’t comment on health-related matters of any executive.

“I’m having a ball, and I’m running on so much adrenaline that no one can stop me,” Harrison told the newspaper. “Don’t judge me by my medical record; judge me by my performance.”

Harrison signed a four-year contract with CSX earlier this year.
