Cummins Engine Gets Writers’ Award

The Cummins Signature 600 engine received the 1998 Technical Achievement Award from the Truck Writers of North America.

Introduced last year, the high-performance, 600-horsepower engine is lightweight, has one-third fewer parts than the Cummins N14 and incorporates a new high-pressure fuel system with no exposed fuel lines.

This is the second time Cummins has been recognized by TWNA. The company’s ESP engine models were recognized in 1992.

TWNA is comprised of truck equipment journalists from the United States, Canada and Mexico. The group initiated the award in 1991 to recognize engineering or service excellence in new products.

The honor was presented in mid-March at The Maintenance Council’s annual conference in Nashville, Tenn.
