CVSA Seeks Common Ground on Safety

TAMPA, Fla. — The elected leader of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance wants to build partnerships with highway safety and truck crash victim advocacy groups to help improve truck and bus safety.

CVSA President Lisa Irwin said her group, which represents safety officials throughout North America, needs to reach out to anyone with an interest in highway safety.

“We have to find new ways to do things,” said Irwin, who has risen to the rank of lieutenant during a 20- year career with the Michigan State Police.

In addition to reaching out to groups of state officials like the National Governors Association, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials as well as the National Association of Governors Highway Safety Representatives, the safety organization also needs to connect with grass-roots groups, Irwin said.
