DAC Services Buys Drug-Testing Firm

STA United, a drug-testing company that primarily serves the trucking industry, has been acquired by DAC Services, a company that provides carriers with background checks on driver applicants.

The two companies expect to market a wider range of services to carriers under the deal, but they will continue to operate separately.

STA United of Lincoln, Neb., was formed in 1988 by a group of state trucking associations that wanted to offer motor carriers a company with knowledge of the industry that could handle drug and alcohol testing for their specific needs. STA United now claims to be the largest such third-party service in the transportation business.

DAC Services is owned by Total Information Services of Tulsa, Okla., and provides pre-employment personnel background screening to trucking and other industries. DAC sells employers information on job applicants consisting of driving and criminal records, employment histories and workers’ compensation claims.
