Daseke Acquires Lone Star Transportation
Daseke Inc. announced Oct. 3 that it is buying Lone Star Transportation, which it called one of the premier open-deck carriers in North America, with nearly 500 tractors and 1,500 diverse open-deck trailers.
Terms were not disclosed. With the deal, Addison, Texas-based Daseke — the parent company of Boyd Bros. Transportation and other carriers, intermodal and logistics firms — will have more than 2,500 tractors and nearly 5,500 open-deck trailers.
“It’s very gratifying to welcome another top carrier into the fold of Daseke companies,” CEO Don Daseke said. “With the addition of Lone Star, we’ve added to our capabilities, including a major presence in Mexico.”
Founded as a small Texas oil field carrier, Fort Worth-based Lone Star quickly grew beyond the confines of West Texas.
“We have a great reputation in the industry and have been in heavy haul since 1988,”Lone Star CEO Tex Robbins said.
With revenue of $447 million last year, Daseke ranks No. 59 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers list.
Lone Star is No. 14 within the list’s flatbed/heavy specialized sector list, with estimated annual revenue of $206 million.
