David May Named ATA Driver of the Year

David May, a West Seneca, N.Y.-based driver for Con-way Freight, was named American Trucking Associations’ 2008 National Truck Driver of the Year.

May has driven over 1.4 million accident-free miles in his 27 years on the road, ATA said Monday.

In addition to his duties as a professional driver, May also works to educate the public about the trucking industry and safety, ATA President Bill Graves said in a statement. “We are proud to have David represent us on the road,” he said.

The announcement came this weekend at the ATA Safety and Loss Prevention Management Council’s Fall Conference in Nashville, Tenn.

May will also be recognized at ATA’s Management Conference and Exhibition Oct. 4-7 in New Orleans.
