DHL Express said it is set to begin using 100 pickup and delivery vans fueled by propane autogas in five more states.
The company said Monday that new Ford E-250 cargo vans, each equipped with Roush CleanTech’s liquid propane autogas fuel system, will be on the road by late August in California, Florida, Georgia, Missouri and Texas.
These new vehicles will join other propane vehicles DHL operates in Ohio, Tennessee and Louisiana.
“Customers in the U.S. and worldwide are increasingly demanding greener logistics and sustainable business procedures,” Ian Clough, CEO of DHL Express U.S., said in a statement.
“Initiatives like our all ‘green’ fleet in Manhattan and this propane autogas fleet not only lower our DHL carbon footprint, but are a smart, clean and cost-effective choice for our business.”
Propane is a byproduct of natural gas and petroleum, occurring naturally during domestic oil refining and natural gas processing.
