DHL's 3Q Profits Fall 35%

Earnings Hurt by Slumping U.S. Shipments

Deutsche Post AG, parent of DHL Americas, said its third-quarter profit fell 35% as declining U.S. shipping volumes cramped earnings at its DHL Express unit, Bloomberg News reported.

Net income decreased to 350 million euros, about $512 million or 29 cents a share, from about $785.2 million or 45 cents a year ago, Bloomberg said.

Sales rose 5% to about $22.9 billion.

DHL Americas ranks No. 3 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the U.S. and Canada.
