Dicom Transportation Group, which offers North American freight services, announced the acquisition of Extra Express to add final-mile delivery and distribution offerings in the western United States.

Dicom, in Montreal, didn’t announce terms of the purchase of Los Angeles area-based Extra. Dicom, which ranks No. 92 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the United States and Canada, said in a statement that the company “has become one of the largest independent final-mile delivery providers on the West Coast,” offering service in California, Nevada and Colorado.

Extra is the fourth acquisition since February 2014, when investor Wind Point Partners acquired control of Dicom, whose revenue increased 36% to more than $230 million over 12 months. The company provides freight, express and logistics services, with final-mile, overnight and second-day parcel offerings.

“Extra Express provides Dicom with significant final-mile density in California and across the western United States,” Dicom CEO Scott Dobak said. “Extra Express is an exceptionally well-run business. We look forward to offering their capabilities, which include state-of-the art tracking and communications technology.”

Extra Express uses tractor-trailers, bobtails, pickup vans and stake bed equipment.
