Diesel dipped for a third week, sliding 2 cents to $3.849 a gallon, the largest decline since late April, the Department of Energy reported.
Gasoline inched up 0.9 cent to $3.655 a gallon, DOE said late Monday following its weekly survey of filling stations.
The diesel downturn follows a 1.1 cent drop last week and a 1 cent drop the week prior. This week’s decline is the largest since it dropped 3.6 cents April 29.
Gas rose 0.1 cent last week and fell 2.8 cents the week prior.
Trucking’s main fuel is 6.8 cents higher than the same week last year, according to DOE figures.
Each week, DOE surveys about 400 diesel filling stations and 800 gasoline stations to compile national average prices.
