Diesel Drops 5.2¢ to $3.729 a Gallon; Gasoline Falls Again
Diesel fell for a 10th straight week, dropping 5.2 cents to $3.729 a gallon, an eight-month low, while gasoline also continued to fall, Department of Energy said Monday.
Gas declined 3.9 cents to $3.533, a four-month low, DOE said following its weekly survey of fillings stations.
The diesel downturn left trucking’s main fuel at its lowest level since Oct. 10 and 22.1 cents below the same week last year, while gasoline is 11.9 cents under a year ago.
Diesel has declined 41.9 cents in the past ten weeks, and gas has plunged 40.8 cents, DOE records showed.
Crude oil fell 76 cents Monday to finish at $83.27 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, Bloomberg reported.
Each week, DOE surveys about 350 diesel filling stations to compile a national snapshot average price.
