Diesel Prices Continue to Slide
Fuel prices continued to descend from the Mount Everest-like summits seen in March and analysts predicted the trend would continue.
The national average fell to $1.419 a gallon on April 10, a drop of 2.3 cents from the previous week, according to the federal Energy Information Administration. It also marked the fourth straight week the national average has declined - something that had not occurred since the beginning of June, when the price of diesel stood at just over $1.05 a gallon.
Truckers weary of being gouged at truck stops should see relief this summer, said analysts who credit the decision of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to increase oil production for the coming good fortune.
"OPEC has given us more crude to work with and that gives us a little more of a cushion than what we would have forecast a month ago," said Tim Evans, senior energy analyst with Pegasus Econometric Group in New York.
