DOT Awards Emergency Funds to Idaho
The Idaho Transportation Department will receive $500,000 in federal aid to repair parts of state Highway 14 in Idaho County damaged by rock slides, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced Feb. 29.
A 500-foot portion of Highway 14 between Grangeville and Elk City, Idaho was affected Feb. 18. According DOT, the roadway provides access for residents of Elk City, Red River, Dixie and Orogrande during the winter.
“Emergency relief funding will help the state repair and reopen [Highway] 14, which is the only access for several communities in the area,” Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said. “DOT will help get repairs under way as quickly as possible.”
“Emergency relief funding will help Idaho address the needed repairs and restore travel for these communities,” Federal Highway Administrator Gregory Nadeau added. “We know residents want to regain their mobility as soon as possible.”
