Drivewyze Inc. has introduced its PreClear weigh-station bypass service to South Carolina, making it the 38th state where the service is available.
PreClear subscribers can receive bypass opportunities at 11 permanent and mobile inspection sites in the state. The new sites are located on U.S. interstates 20, 26, 77 and 95, as well as U.S. Highway 17, according to Drivewyze.
“Truck fleets and drivers traveling north and south along the I-95 corridor will now find weigh station bypass opportunities on most stretches of interstate from Maine to Florida,” said Brian Heath, president of Drivewyze.
The company said it now offers bypass service in 14 of the 16 states that make up the I-95 Corridor Coalition, an alliance of transportation agencies with jurisdiction over I-95.
PreClear uses cellular networks and the internet to add transponder-like functionality to tablets, smartphones and electronic logging devices. Drivers using the service may receive permission to bypass an upcoming weigh station if the carrier meets the state enforcement agency’s safety standards.
