DTNA Offers Automated Transmission in 13-L Cascadia

DETROIT — Daimler Trucks North America announced Sept. 18 that it is now offering its automated manual transmission for sale with its 13-liter Detroit brand heavy-duty engines in the Freightliner Cascadia tractors.

This engine-transmission package is aimed at regional haulers and pickup and delivery operations, DTNA officials said.

Up to now, the AMT has been sold only with Detroit Diesel Corp.’s 15-liter engines.

Officials said the AMT is designed to improve fuel efficiency in the shorthaul and pickup-and-delivery operations.
