Durable Goods Orders Fall in October

Durable goods orders fell 0.4% in October, the Commerce Department said Wednesday.

The decline followed a revised 1.4% drop in September that was less than originally reported, Commerce said.

Excluding transportation orders, bookings fell 0.7%.

The overall decline was greater than economists’ forecast of a 0.1% drop, Bloomberg reported.

Trucking is a major beneficiary of durable goods manufacturing, hauling both components and finished goods.
