Dynamex’s 2Q Income Falls

Logistics and delivery firm Dynamex Inc.’s fiscal second-quarter profit fell slightly to $2.22 million, or 23 cents a share, from $2.3 million, or 24 cents, a year ago.

Sales for the quarter ended Jan. 31 grew 0.9% to $98.4 million, the company said late Wednesday.

Dynamex decreased salaries and employee benefit costs by $500,000, or 2.5%, compared with last year, due mostly to a management realignment, closing the company’s Canadian administrative office and a reduction in force.

Dynamex, which provides same-day delivery services, is ranked No. 70 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
