E-Paccar Joins the List Of Industry Dot.coms

E-Paccar, a subsidiary of Paccar Corp., has joined the list of firms establishing a business-to-business exchange for buying and selling goods on the Internet.

The company will attempt to develop an international community for buying and selling everything from truck parts to computers to used trucks online.

Truckxchange.com will link commercial vehicle manufacturers, customers, dealers and suppliers in offering volume discount prices to participants who would be unable to get the saving otherwise, said Tom Plimpton, executive vice president at Paccar, whose truck subsidiaries are Kenworth and Peterbilt.

E-Paccar has spent several million dollars to get the site off the ground, Plimpton said. The company will be setting up its network over the next few months and will begin doing business in the third quarter of 2000, he said.
