Eck Miller Acquires CWP Assets

MILFORD, Ohio — Eck Miller Transportation, a unit of Intrenet Inc., acquired the assets of CWP Transportation, a flatbed and freight brokerage business based in Forney, Texas.

Terms were not disclosed.

The purchase is expected to add $3.5 million to Eck Miller’s 1999 revenue, the company said.

"This purchase enhances our customer base throughout the Texas-Midwest region . . . and allows for the improvement in our back-haul capacity," said Phil Weaver, president of Eck Miller.

The acquisition is the second for Eck Miller in 1998. The company acquired the assets of Regal Transportation in April. Intrenet also owns truckload carriers Roadrunner Trucking, Advanced Distribution System and Roadrunner Distribution Services, plus INET Logistics.

Eck Miller operates a fleet of more than 760 tractors and is a leading carrier of steel and aluminum, building materials and machinery.
