The Eno Center for Transportation will unveil a report May 27 that looks at the gas tax increase during the Reagan administration.
The report, titled “Reagan Devolution: The Story of the 1982 Gas Tax Increase,” was written by Jeff Davis, a senior fellow with the Eno Center. Davis will take part in a panel to offer an overview about the report and discuss how the debate about highway funding more than three decades ago remains relevant.
Joshua Schank, Eno’s executive director, will moderate the panel. Also taking part in the event will be Mort Downey, former U.S. deputy secretary of Transportation; John Fischer, formerly of the Congressional Research Service; Susan Binder, a senior associate at Cambridge Systematics; and James Burnley, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation.
Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.), a senior member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, is scheduled to introduce the panel.
