embers of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works sharply criticized President Bush’s nominee for head of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Air and Radiation, objecting to the agency’s stance on certain industrial pollutants.
Bill Wehrum, currently the acting head, would lead the office that oversees the EPA’s diesel emissions program, but none of the senators speaking at a March 5 hearing on his nomination asked about the truck regulations.
Bush nominated Wehrum to the position Feb. 27.
