The company said it will maintain the founder’s values: integrity, quality, commitment and innovation.

Ervin got his start in business at 15 when he purchased a tractor and rented farm ground from a relative, the company said.

He founded Ervin Trucking in 1981, a company that hauled sand and gravel to construction sites. In the process of purchasing new equipment for Ervin Trucking and selling old, he noticed a demand for pre-owned equipment which led him to start Ervin Equipment in 1991.

The company focuses on selling and leasing equipment within the transportation industry. It specializes in new and used trailers.

Ervin also is survived by his wife Christie, daughter Kylee, mother Mary and a sister.
