Estes to Expand Direct, Next-day Services

LTL carrier Estes Express Lines, Richmond, Va., said Monday it will expand its direct service area by opening four new terminals in the Midwest, allowing the company to offer direct coverage in all 50 states and providing customers with expanded next-day shipping options.

“Our growth in the Midwest will open up a number of direct and next-day lanes, which in effect reduces both transit times and freight handling,” said Billy Hupp, chief operating officer of Estes. “This enhances our ability to meet our customers’ growing needs in the next-day market.”

Estes said in a statement that it expects to begin using the new terminals and service lanes beginning in March.

Estes ranks No. 17 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
