Peter Rose, CEO of Expeditors International of Washington Inc., will retire in March after 35 years with the company, he announced in an Oct. 8 statement.
Rose helped start the logistics company in 1981 and became its CEO seven years later, Expeditors said. He is also the company’s chairman, a position he’ll keep until May 2015 to help the transition process for the new CEO.
“I have been blessed and honored to have worked with such a great group of people, customers and carriers at Expeditors since 1981,” Rose said in the statement. “I look forward to working with the board of directors with our transition to a new CEO, who will be selected from a slate of well-qualified and experienced internal candidates.”
Expeditors, based in Seattle, is ranked No. 14 on the Transport Topics Top 50 list of largest logistics companies in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
