Expeditors International of Washington Inc. said it has chosen Jeffrey Musser to become CEO in March.
Musser, currently Expeditors’ chief information officer, will replace Peter Rose, who announced in October that he would retire. Rose will remain with the logistics company as chairman until May 2015.
“Jeff has distinguished himself at every level of endeavor throughout his 31-year career at Expeditors,” Rose said in a Dec. 20 statement. “Throughout that time, Jeff has never been given an assignment where he hasn’t exceeded expectations.”
“Being asked by the board to lead a company as dynamic and successful as Expeditors, while a great privilege, is at the same time, quite humbling,” Musser said. “Following in the footsteps of an industry legend like Peter Rose will be an enormous challenge in and of itself.”
Musser helped to start the company in 1981 and became its CEO seven years later.
Expeditors, based in Seattle, is ranked No. 16 on the Transport Topics Top 50 list of largest logistics companies in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
